I've been using MM to sync to my Sansa e260's Internal Memory for almost a year without any issues by using Send To--> Internal Memory. MM 3.1 has given me the ability to also sync to my MicroSD card.

Just bought a SanDisk Sansa Clip 4GB player. After a few hours of trial and error, I got the following to work with MediaMonkey.

1. Open MediaMonkey and create your playlists etc.
2. Right click on each playlist and select "Send To >> .m3u Playlist" and save the file.
3. Open the new playlist in Notepad and replace any "..\FolderA\FolderB\filename.mp3" with "MUSIC\filename.mp3".
4. Place your m3u files in the root of the Sansa Clip.
5. Copy your mp3 files into the MUSIC folder.

The MM AutoSync works fine for mp3's if....in MM, right click on "Removable Disk (E:)" or whatever your Sansa comes up as and select Properties >> Device Configuration >> Sync track to: "\MUSIC\<Filename>". You can also select which playlists etc to Auto-Sync from this menu.

example playlist.m3u

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:193,Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Berlin
MUSIC\Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Berlin.mp3
#EXTINF:161,The Pretenders - Boots Of Chinese Plastic
MUSIC\The Pretenders - Boots Of Chinese Plastic.mp3

I know SansaManager makes beautiful playlists: http://lodist.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39

I am not sure how well it works with MM though.

Work great for me... in either mode...

The playlists for the e200 and e200R series work great.. they work better in MTP mode or "Plays for Sure" mode if you have the "Rhapsody" version.

The playlists transfer just great in MTP mode with no fuss nescessary... they transfer in MSC mode as well, but you then need to go on your device in the Playlist folder and convert the .mlu playlists to .pla playlists using a free converter....

If you don't see your playlist on the device, but see them when exploring your device in My Computer, you are likely in MSC mode, and have .mlu playlists in the "playlists" folder... make sure your playlists are in the "playlists" folder on teh device... then convert them to .pla playlists using the free converfer (do a search here).

Easier just to use MTP mode... syncs like a charm.. no conversion nescessary.. MM adds .pla playlists right to the playlist folder as I instructed it to do in the autosync options.

Only issue I have is my track ratings don't transfer quite how I'd like.. the tag info must be there because the tracks I rate show up in my "highest rated" section on the device.. but the stars don't show up.

I also can't seem to be able to sync back from the device to PC at all in either mode... the checkbox for that option in my autosync options is greyed out...

I dont have a problem with playlists, strangely. I always just click on the playlist, then right click and send to sansa, and it always works perfectly. Sorry others are having so many problems, maybe try switching modes if you haven't.

Must agree- that is what Sandisk told me as well. However, there are those w/e200 series and m series players able to use Media Monkey to send Playlists in MTP mode and some have said they are doing it in MSC as well.
I do know that you should NOT update WMP10 to 11-very bad experience for me. Nearly bricked my e280; had to reformat and download the current firmware (1.02.15) to get back normal. Could it be that we need to convert from m3u to pla in Media Monkey to get the Playlists set up correctly?

AAAAAAHhhh

I just spoke to Sansa Tech Support. Arce said that "Only playlist made in Windows Media Player 10 or greater will work".

That sucks.

Same problem with details and tears

I see Bilbo has tried twice to resolve this without success. I have the same problem on my M260.
  • The tracks have to go into the \AUDIBLE directory for the Sansa to see it.
The playlist also has to go there
Under the Synchronization Options, I have the track going to \Audible\<Title>
The Playlist is also set up to go to AUDIBLE\
When synching, I synch the Playlists.

When selecting, the Album, Artist,Genre, and Year all work, but the Playlist indicates 'No Files'

I thought I solved the problem by saving files to \AUDIBLE\<Path> .

The M3u playlist gives me this:
\AUDIBLE\Time For Love- The Best Of Ju\01 Cry Me A River.mp3

The actual path on the M260:
"J:\AUDIBLE\Time For Love- The Best Of Ju\01 Cry Me A River.MP3"

But still when selected, the Playlist says 'NO FILES'.

Did you try to transfer the tunes and playlists at the same time? I had the same issue until I did that (e280). Just a thought-since you did not create the playlist on the Sansa.

Empty playlists on Sandisk Sansa - Help please

by Bilbo » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:41 pm

I created 4 playlists in MM, then tried synching them to my Sandisk Sansa m250. Well, the playlists themselves got there, so when I press "play music" on my Sansa it gives me the option "Playlists" along with the other options (album, genre, etc).
The problem is, when I choose a playlist on the Sansa, it displays "no files." I know the music files are on the Sansa, but for some reason they aren't showing up in the playlists. I can play them using one of the other choices (genre, artist, etc).
I have tried synching in both MTP and MSC modes, but it doesn't make a difference. In the synch options I have the destination set as <artist>-<title>

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks :(
