So it seems that the problem might actually be the tags. I take what you guys have said, and that may well be an issue too, but having gone through and manually checked some random files it seems that the 'album art' that is in the tags is a picture of a blank disk with a song note. I assume this means the images have been corrupted somehow.
So I've managed to find an extension that will remove the artwork and was going to try this extension to find it all again

I know it won't find all of them and I don't mind doing some manually but that extension doesn't fine anything for me. Is it no longer supported? Is there an alternative?
