Yes, iTunes (or it's components) need to be installed to sync to Apple iOS devices: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... Pod.2FiPad You don't need to use or run iTunes to sync your Apple iOS device with MediaMonkey, but the components are needed for communication with Apple iOS devices.

I was trying to get away from iTunes to manage my music and podcasts for my iPod Classic. Reading the response above makes me think that I still need iTunes.

My old laptop finally bit the dust. I was trying to keep from installing iTunes on my new laptop. Is it true that I need iTunes also? If that is true, what is the benefit of having MM?

Thanks,
Eddie

iOS devices including iPod Touch should sync with MediaMonkey (requires iTunes). If you have issues, report them so they can be resolved.

Apple has a brand new iPod Touch:

Looks closer to a phone without a sim card. Nonetheless, it seems like an interesting idea if you like to keep your music and phone separate (which I do).

Does if play nicely with MediaMonkey???
thnx,
